About
Doris Heritage Park is Gig Harbor's newest park, named after trailblazing Olympic runner and coach Doris Heritage. The grand opening took place on June 16 at 10660 Harbor Hill Dr. The opening represents one of the first phases of the Gig Harbor Sports Complex. The park includes six pickleball courts, three bocce ball courts, two picnic areas, a playground for children ages two to 12 with a maritime theme featuring a bright blue surface and ship-like equipment, a performance stage, and a restroom building. The total cost for the project was $6.6 million. The park was originally scheduled to open in February but experienced construction delays due to weather and other factors.
