Running a league

Teams, pairs, or individuals

Pick how people enter your league, and what that changes downstream.

Works today

You set this once, when you create the league. It decides what an "entry" is — and everything from invites to standings follows from it.

The three models

  • Teams — a captain claims a team, builds a roster, and fields a squad each session. The team gets its own chat and join code.
  • Pairs — two players enter as a fixed partnership. Lightweight: no roster to manage, no team chat.
  • Individuals — people enter alone. Also lightweight, and standings stay private by default until you choose to publish them.

Team entry is the heavy one: it mints a community, a join code and a chat, and gives the captain a console for weekly squads. Pairs and individuals skip all of that, because a team of one has nobody to invite and no squad to build.

Common questions

Can I switch model after teams have entered?

No. Entries are shaped by the model, so switching would strand everyone already in. Decide before you open entry.

Can I take both teams and individuals?

Not in one league. Run two leagues if you want both — they can share courts and sit in the same season.

Someone wants to play but has no team.

Point them at a captain who's short. Captains can invite anyone to their roster, and a member doesn't need to have entered separately.
